Gunmen Abduct Islamic Cleric, Brother While Conveying Corps In Kogi; Demand 10m Ransom From Victims Family To Secure Release

Gunmen have kidnapped an Islamic cleric, Alfa Fasasi Ola Mejabi, and his younger brother at Oshokoshoko, along Lokoja-Obajana-Kabba road in Kogi State, just as they also demanded sum of N10 million from family to secure their release.

The cleric and others were conveying the corpse of the Chief Imam of Ayegunle Gbede, Sheikh Musa Olorunkemi, from Lokoja to Ayegunle Gbede in Ijumu local government of the state for burial on Sunday when they ran into the kidnappers hands..

A source told Kogi Reports that the victims’ telephone lines have been switched off since their abduction, but added that the kidnappers made contact with the family on Monday morning demanding N10 million ransom for their release.

The State Security Adviser, Commodore Jerry Omadara, who confirmed the incident said that the security agents in the state are doing everything possible to rescue them from the kidnapper’s den.

“It is true but the security operatives were on their trail in a bid to rescue them and arrest the kidnappers,” he confirmed.
