Security operatives in Akwa Ibom State have uncovered explosive devices during a coordinated security operation at a custodial facility, raising fresh concerns over attempts to breach sensitive correctional infrastructure.
The discovery was made after a police-led tactical response in and around the custodial centre, following intelligence reports suggesting suspicious activity in the area.
According to security sources, the operation led to the recovery of explosive materials believed to have been concealed within or near the facility. Authorities immediately secured the area to prevent any risk to inmates, staff, and surrounding communities.
