31 Companies Win 37 Oil Blocks As Nigeria Targets Higher Oil, Gas Production

Thirty-one companies have emerged successful in Nigeria’s 2025 Oil and Gas Licensing Round, securing a total of 37 oil and gas blocks as the Federal Government moves to attract fresh investment, increase exploration activities and boost the country’s crude oil and gas production.

The winners emerged after a competitive bidding process conducted by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), which offered several oil and gas assets across different regions of the country.

The successful companies include SSonic Petroleum Limited, CFP Pipeline and Flowlines Limited, Dutchford E&P Limited, Attabanson Global Company Limited, Rosem Energy Limited, Pivot-GIS Limited, Network E&P Limited, Asharami Energy, LexOil Limited, BVOF Limited, Gupsco Energy Limited, Saratoga Energy Resources Limited, Volante Energy Limited and Concept-Reel Petroleum Services Limited.

Others are Clinton Oil Field Limited, Nuway Oaklane Limited, Ramec Limited, Italia Limited, Blueridge Exploration and Production Limited, Up Energies Limited, AYM Shafa Limited, Blackrock Holdings Limited, Funtay Integrated Business Limited, Riparian Development and Production Limited, Nikstallis Limited, Stardeep Petroleum Limited, Dakoda & U Limited, Southborne Oil and Gas Limited, Lanaka Petroleum Limited, Highban Resources Limited and Eyre Energy Limited.

The NUPRC said the licensing exercise was designed to bring more investors into Nigeria’s upstream oil sector while unlocking new exploration opportunities and increasing the nation’s hydrocarbon reserves.

The awarded blocks are located across major oil-producing and exploration areas, including the Niger Delta onshore, shallow waters, deep offshore locations and frontier basins such as the Benue Trough, Chad Basin, Anambra Basin and Benin Basin.

The commission said the successful bidders are expected to complete all regulatory requirements, including payment of necessary fees and fulfilment of contractual obligations, before full commencement of activities on the awarded assets.

The NUPRC stated that the licensing round attracted strong interest from investors, with several companies competing for available blocks, adding that the process was conducted under transparent guidelines aimed at encouraging serious players with the financial and technical capacity to develop the assets.

The latest development is part of the Federal Government’s wider strategy to reverse declining investment in the oil and gas industry, increase production capacity and strengthen Nigeria’s position as one of Africa’s leading energy producers.

Industry stakeholders believe the new licences could generate employment opportunities, encourage local participation, increase government revenue and support growth across the oil and gas value chain.

The government said the successful completion of the licensing round demonstrates Nigeria’s continued commitment to creating a competitive investment environment while ensuring that the country’s vast energy resources contribute more significantly to economic development.
