A 23-year-old Kano-based commercial Tricyclist, Awwalu Salisu, who returned a cash of N15 million left in his tricycle by a Chadian businessman in 2023 has been offered 25O million scholarship for his honesty.
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, who announced this scholarship offered Salisu, said this gesture is meant to appreciate his act of honesty and to encourage other young Nigerians to imbibe the virtue.
Before the latest development, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, was the first to offer Awwalu scholarship at the Abuja-based Baze University up to PhD level.
Following the gesture by Obi, Bago said the LP candidate cannot be allowed to outshine the ruling All Progressives Congress,(APC) and then Bago announced the scholarship award.
According to the governor, Awwalu will get a N50m scholarship each from him personally, President Bola Tinubu, his Ministers, APC Governors Forum and Niger State government.
Bago added that he would name one of the road projects he was undertaking in Niger State after the Kano Keke rider.
