The Royal Canadian Mounted Police has praised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for its professionalism and commitment in fighting financial crimes. The commendation was made during a visit to the EFCC office in Lagos.
The RCMP said the EFCC has shown strong dedication in tackling organised crime that crosses international borders. It noted that the agency’s approach to cooperation and intelligence sharing has been impressive.
The remarks were made on Thursday, February 5, 2026, during a courtesy visit by RCMP Liaison Officer in Lagos, Nasser Salihou.
Salihou visited the Acting Zonal Director of EFCC Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 in Ikoyi, ACE I Bawa Usman Kaltungo. The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between both agencies.
The RCMP officer highlighted the importance of partnerships in addressing crimes that involve multiple countries. He said such cooperation is key to success in modern law enforcement.
He commended the EFCC for maintaining high standards while carrying out investigations and prosecutions. He also praised the agency’s record in handling complex financial crime cases.
Both sides discussed ways to improve intelligence exchange and joint efforts in ongoing and future cases. They agreed that closer ties would help fight cross-border crimes more effectively.
Kaltungo appreciated the visit and assured the RCMP of EFCC’s continued commitment to global cooperation in the anti-graft fight.
He said the EFCC values its relationship with international partners and will continue to work together to achieve common goals.
The meeting ended with both agencies expressing readiness to deepen their partnership in the fight against organised financial crimes.
