Thomas Tuchel will remain head coach of the England national team until the end of Euro 2028 after signing a new contract with the Football Association.
The FA confirmed the extension on Thursday, stating that the agreement will allow Tuchel to lead England through the upcoming World Cup and the European Championship to be hosted in the UK and Ireland.
Tuchel was appointed England manager in October 2024 as successor to Gareth Southgate and has since overseen a flawless qualification campaign for the 2026 World Cup in North America.
Under the German coach, England won all eight of their group matches, maintaining an unbeaten record and raising confidence among supporters ahead of the global tournament.
Speaking after signing the new deal, Tuchel expressed pride and happiness at continuing his journey with the team.
“I am very happy and proud to extend my time with England,” the 52-year-old said.
He added that working with the players and coaching staff has been a rewarding experience and that he is eager to lead the squad to the World Cup.
“It is an incredible opportunity and we are going to do our very best to make the country proud,” Tuchel said.

Tuchel’s previous contract was expected to run only until the end of the 2026 World Cup, but the new agreement secures his future with the national team for an additional two years.
His commitment to England also ends speculation linking him with a possible return to club management.
Tuchel had been mentioned as a potential candidate for the Manchester United job following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim, despite the club’s improved form under caretaker manager Michael Carrick.
However, by signing the extension, Tuchel has effectively ruled himself out of any move to Old Trafford after the World Cup.
The FA believes the long-term arrangement will help maintain continuity in the team’s style, planning, and overall performance as major tournaments approach.
