The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays in observance of the Easter celebration.
The holidays will mark Good Friday and Easter Monday, significant dates in the Christian calendar.
The declaration was conveyed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
In his message, the minister extended warm greetings to Christians across the country and globally, encouraging them to reflect on the spiritual values of the season.
He stressed the importance of unity, peace, and mutual respect, noting that Easter highlights the virtues that promote harmony and national cohesion.
Tunji-Ojo also reaffirmed the government’s dedication to policies that support growth and development across the nation.
He concluded by wishing all Christians a happy and peaceful Easter celebration.
