Yusuf Buhari, the only son of late President Muhammadu Buhari, has declared interest in contesting for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
In a letter dated April 3, 2026, Yusuf formally expressed his intention to run for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua Federal Constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
He stated that his decision followed wide consultations and was driven by a desire to contribute to quality leadership and development in his constituency.
Yusuf also pledged to focus on infrastructural growth and human development if elected, while seeking the support of party members and constituents.
His declaration comes days after APC stakeholders in Sandamu Local Government Area of Katsina State endorsed him as their preferred candidate for the federal constituency seat.
The endorsement was reached during a stakeholders’ meeting involving elected officials and political appointees across the constituency.
Speaking at the meeting, council chairman Usman Na-Lado described the decision as a collective agreement based on Yusuf’s perceived capacity and acceptance within the party.
The stakeholders also reaffirmed their support for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Dikko Radda ahead of the 2027 elections.
Party sources indicated that Yusuf’s emergence as the preferred candidate is strongly backed by the state leadership, signalling growing support within APC ranks.
The development positions him as a key contender in the race for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua Federal Constituency seat as political activities gradually build toward 2027.
