Multiple Crashes Claim Lives, Leave Dozens Injured on Ogun and Kano Roads

At least seven people have lost their lives while over 60 others sustained injuries in separate road accidents recorded in Ogun and Kano states, raising fresh concerns over highway safety.

The incidents, which occurred at different locations, involved commercial vehicles and left many passengers injured, some critically, according to emergency responders.

In Ogun State, the crash was said to have involved a passenger bus, with several occupants trapped before rescue teams arrived to evacuate victims and transport them to nearby hospitals.

Witnesses at the scene described a chaotic situation, as bystanders and officials worked together to assist the injured and recover bodies from the wreckage.

In Kano State, another accident reportedly left multiple casualties after a vehicle carrying passengers was involved in a collision, adding to the growing number of road incidents in recent days.

Officials confirmed that dozens of victims across both accidents were rushed for medical treatment, while emergency teams continued efforts to stabilise those in critical condition.

Preliminary findings from authorities suggest that factors such as reckless driving and possible mechanical issues may have contributed to the crashes.

The accidents have once again highlighted the dangers faced by commuters on major highways, especially with the increasing movement of vehicles across states.

Road safety officials have urged drivers to adhere strictly to traffic regulations and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on journeys.

They also called for increased awareness and enforcement measures to reduce the frequency of such tragic incidents.

As investigations continue, authorities are working to determine the exact causes of both crashes and prevent future occurrences.

The latest tragedies add to a growing list of fatal road accidents nationwide, renewing calls for improved safety measures on Nigerian roads.
