Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has set another global record after becoming the first African artist to surpass 11 billion total streams on Spotify across all credits.
The milestone was confirmed on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, by music data analytics platform Chart Data via social media, where it highlighted the singer’s continued dominance on the global streaming platform and his consistent rise through major streaming milestones over the years.
Wizkid, whose catalogue includes global hits such as One Dance with Drake and Essence featuring Tems, has steadily climbed from earlier milestones of 1 billion streams to 10 billion before crossing the new 11 billion mark, further strengthening his status as one of Africa’s most streamed music exports.
The achievement adds another layer to the singer’s already historic run on Spotify, where he has repeatedly broken records as the first African artist to reach multiple billion-stream benchmarks, including the 10 billion milestone earlier in 2026.
