Nigerian singer and songwriter Niniola has been thrown into mourning following the death of her husband, Michael Ndika, with the heartbreaking announcement sparking emotional reactions across social media.
The Afro-house star disclosed the development on Wednesday through a series of emotional Instagram story posts, where she expressed grief over the loss of her longtime partner, whom she said she had been with for 13 years.
In one of the emotional messages shared online, the singer wrote, “God took him,” while another post simply read, “My husband died,” alongside photos of the couple together.
Michael Ndika was reportedly the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a multimedia platform known for promoting African music and entertainment content before his death.
The exact cause of his death was not immediately disclosed, as Niniola has largely kept details about her personal and family life away from public attention throughout her music career.
The 39-year-old singer rose to fame after participating in Project Fame West Africa in 2013 before gaining international recognition through hit songs such as Maradona and several collaborations within the Afrobeats scene.
Following the announcement, fans, celebrities and fellow entertainers flooded social media with condolence messages, with many expressing shock over the tragic development and praying for strength for the singer and her family.
