A Nigerian police officer has sparked widespread outrage after appearing in a viral video where he threatened to kill anyone who records him while carrying out his duties.
The incident reportedly involved a serving officer identified as Newton Isokpehi, who was seen in uniform warning members of the public against filming him during operations, insisting that anyone who does so would be “shot dead,” a statement that quickly triggered backlash online.
In the video, the officer also issued threats directed at those he claimed encourage citizens to record police activities, escalating concerns over abuse of power and professionalism within the force.
The footage, which has since circulated widely on social media, has drawn heavy criticism from Nigerians who described the remarks as dangerous and unacceptable, especially in an era where citizens frequently document police conduct for accountability.
The Nigeria Police Force is yet to issue an official statement on the incident as public reactions continue to grow across various platforms.
