The Federal High Court in Kaduna has adjourned the bail hearing of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to Wednesday.
The decision was made on Tuesday during proceedings held under tight security due to the high-profile nature of the case.
El-Rufai’s lawyer, Ukpong Akpan, confirmed the adjournment but declined to provide further details, saying legal work was still ongoing.
Shortly after the court session, the former governor was escorted out by operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.
He was taken away in a white Hilux vehicle as security personnel maintained order around the court premises.
El-Rufai had earlier appeared in court for the continuation of hearing on his bail application.
He is currently facing a 10-count charge that includes alleged money laundering, conversion, and possession of public property.
The case is being handled by Justice Rilwan M. Aikawa at the Federal High Court.
Reports indicate that the former governor had spent over a month in detention before being brought to court.
He was, however, briefly released on compassionate grounds following the death of his mother in Egypt.
In a related development, El-Rufai was also arraigned before a Kaduna State High Court on separate charges.
At the State High Court, he appeared alongside another defendant, Amadu Sule, over allegations including fraud and abuse of office.
The charges at the State High Court are different from those at the Federal High Court.
After the state court proceedings, he was moved to the Federal High Court for continuation of the bail hearing.
With the adjournment, the court is expected to resume hearing on the bail application on Wednesday.
The case has continued to attract nationwide attention due to El-Rufai’s political profile.
