FIFA has launched a formal investigation into top officials of the Congolese Football Association over alleged financial misconduct involving its funds. The probe is being handled by the investigatory chamber of FIFA’s independent Ethics Committee.
Those under investigation include FECOFOOT president Jean Guy Mayolas, General Secretary Wantete Badji, and Finance Director Raoul Kanda. FIFA said the action followed a review of documents and information which pointed to possible irregularities in the use of allocated funds.
According to the global football body, the alleged conduct may involve misuse of funds, forgery, conflicts of interest, and improper benefits, all of which could violate provisions of its Code of Ethics. It added that the list of possible violations may expand as investigations continue.
FIFA stressed that the proceedings are based on initial findings which show a prima facie case, but noted that no final decision has been reached. The organisation also said it would not make further comments while the investigation is ongoing.
The development comes amid reports that a court in Brazzaville had earlier convicted Mayolas and others over alleged embezzlement of FIFA funds, raising further concerns about financial accountability within the federation.
FIFA reiterated its commitment to transparency and proper management of funds across member associations, stating that maintaining integrity in football administration remains a top priority.
