The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said the internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party has come to an end, calling on former members to return to the party.
Wike made the statement during a media briefing in Abuja, where he noted that the party had moved past its recent conflicts and is now focused on rebuilding and unity.
He explained that the conclusion of the party’s national convention marked a turning point, adding that there was no need to continue internal disagreements.
According to him, the PDP is now open to welcoming back members who had earlier left, stressing that reconciliation remains key to strengthening the party ahead of future elections.
Wike revealed that several former members had already indicated interest in returning, noting that the political atmosphere within the party is becoming more accommodating.
He urged politicians to abandon what he described as a “do-or-die” approach, explaining that such attitudes make unity difficult to achieve.
The former Rivers State governor maintained that political disagreements should not be treated as permanent divisions, but as issues that can be resolved through dialogue and cooperation.
He further emphasised that moving forward, party members must prioritise collective progress over personal interests in order to reposition the PDP.
Wike also advised aspiring politicians to remain active and visible within the party, warning that those who stay on the sidelines may struggle to remain relevant.
The PDP has faced prolonged internal disputes since 2025, but Wike insisted the party is now ready to move on and consolidate its position ahead of the 2027 elections.
