The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 28-year-old man, Baffa’ji Abba, over the alleged rape of his eight-year-old biological daughter.
The suspect was arrested following a report lodged at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Alkaleri over an incident said to have occurred on December 30, 2025.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Nafiu Habib, said detectives immediately swung into action after the report was received, visited the scene, and took the victim to the General Hospital in Alkaleri for urgent medical attention before arresting the suspect.
Habib disclosed that the suspect allegedly confessed during interrogation. He added that the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a discreet investigation and gather sufficient evidence to ensure diligent prosecution.
The police confirmed that the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, reiterating their commitment to protecting vulnerable children and ensuring justice for victims of sexual abuse.
