Bandits kill 30, abduct many in Niger

Not fewer than 30 people have been confirmed dead following a deadly attack on a rural market in Niger State by gunmen believed to be bandits.

The assailants struck Kasuwan Daji market in Demo village, Kabe District of Borgu Local Government Area, leaving behind burnt shops, stolen goods and several abducted villagers.

The attack reportedly occurred on Saturday when the armed men emerged from routes linked to the Kainji Lake National Park forest. Residents said the gunmen arrived suddenly, opened fire on traders and buyers, and set parts of the market on fire, forcing people to flee in different
