Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has expressed sorrow on the passing of the British monarch Her Majesty Queen Elizaberth II, who died on Thursday at the age of 96.
Okonjo-Iweala issued the following statement on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II: “It was with great sadness that I learned of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. For seventy years, she was a figure of strength, service, and duty — a constant even as the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth, and the world changed in ways that could scarcely have been imagined at her coronation. My thoughts and prayers are with the royal family, and on behalf of the WTO secretariat, I send my deepest sympathies to the people and governments of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.”
