Four men have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly using fake revenue tickets to extort motorcycle riders and traders around the Sabo Under-Bridge area of Sagamu.
The suspects — Inidana Muhammad (50), Ali-Asan Makun Muhammad (40), Ahmed Isa (30) and Saliu Isa (23) — were picked up on November 20, 2025, after a distress call alerted officers that a group was fraudulently collecting money from the public.
According to the police spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, the four men were caught with forged ACOMORAN receipts, which they reportedly used to deceive unsuspecting residents into paying illegal levies. Officers said the fake tickets were allegedly supplied by a man identified only as Yinusa, who lives in Sabo and is currently on the run.
Odutola explained that the incident was reported earlier that morning to the Divisional Police Officer of Sakura Division, who immediately dispatched a team to the scene. The suspects were apprehended before they could flee the area.
Police investigations later confirmed that the forged receipts had been used repeatedly to target commercial motorcyclists and small traders, causing unrest in the community. The Command said the matter would be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for deeper investigation and prosecution.
Reacting to the arrest, Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, warned that the force would no longer ignore illegal groups or individuals who harass road users under the guise of collecting revenue. He described such activities as a threat to public order and vowed that security operatives would take firm action against anyone involved.
The command restated its zero-tolerance stance toward impersonation, extortion, forgery, and any behaviour capable of disturbing peace in the state. Ogunlowo assured residents that the police remained committed to maintaining safety and preventing criminal groups from exploiting the public.
A similar case occurred in February 2020, when two men were arrested in Lagos for posing as security officers to avoid being stopped by law enforcement while operating illegally on restricted routes.
