The management of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Kogi State, has expelled two students over alleged involvement in same-sex conduct and rusticated four others for one academic session following a campus fight. The disciplinary measures were approved by the university’s Senate after recommendations from the Students’ Disciplinary Committee.
According to the university, the sanctions were carried out in line with the provisions of the institution’s Students’ Handbook, as amended in 2025, to enforce discipline and maintain order on campus.
The two expelled students were identified as Onumoko Hamza of the Biology Education Department and Abdulazeez Eneji of the Mining Engineering Department.
The four students rusticated for one academic session over fighting are Favor Akowe of the Microbiology Department, Simbiat Babamuharuna of the Biology Department, Zainab Omayoza of the Biochemistry Department and Sukura Bukola, also of the Biochemistry Department.
The university said letters conveying the disciplinary actions were signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Eli Gbadafu, and issued to the affected students.
CUSTECH stated that the decisions reflected its commitment to maintaining discipline, order and a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
The management also warned that it would not hesitate to impose strict disciplinary measures on any student found guilty of violating the institution’s rules and regulations.
Students were advised to familiarise themselves with the provisions of the Students’ Handbook and conduct themselves in line with the university’s regulations to avoid sanctions in the future.
