The governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Engr. Kale Kawu, has dismissed a viral video making rounds online, denying claims that he or anyone connected to him is involved in the incident portrayed in the footage.
Kawu described the video as a deliberate attempt to spread false information and damage his reputation ahead of the 2027 governorship election. He said those behind the claims were using social media to create controversy and mislead members of the public.
The PDP candidate said the allegations had no connection with reality and urged residents of Kwara State to disregard the claims, stressing that the video was being circulated without proper verification.
According to him, his focus remains on presenting his plans and ideas for the development of the state rather than responding to what he called politically motivated attacks.
Kawu also called on security agencies to investigate the source of the viral material and identify those responsible for spreading what he described as defamatory content.
The controversy comes as political activities increase ahead of the 2027 general elections, with parties and candidates already beginning preparations and public engagements across the country.
Kawu, who emerged as the PDP consensus governorship candidate in Kwara State, said he would not be distracted by what he described as attempts to divert attention from the issues that matter to the people.
He urged members of the public to be cautious about sharing unverified information online, adding that false claims can cause unnecessary tension and damage the reputation of innocent individuals.
