Kano State Police Command has arraigned housewife before the State High Court presided over by Justice Zuwaira Yusuf for allegedly killing her stepchild.
The prosecution counsel Barrister Lamido Soron Dinki told the court that the defendant had poisoned her stepchild, a baby, Naziru Ashiru, leading to his death.
According to Soron-Dinki, the offence is contrary to section 221 of the Penal Code.
The defendant denied committing the offence.
The defense counsel Barrister Samir Rabiu applied for her bail which the court granted.
Justice Yusuf ordered that the defendant be remanded in correctional center. She also adjourned the case to March 5, 2024.
