The House of Representatives has directed the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to produce the man identified as the alleged Director-General of the controversial Peace Fund for Innovative Public Intervention and Crime Prevention (PFIPC) within 48 hours as investigations into the agency deepen.
The directive was issued during a hearing by the House Committee probing the circumstances surrounding the appearance of the agency in the 2026 national budget despite questions over its legal status and operations.
Lawmakers expressed dissatisfaction over the failure of the alleged agency head, Olusegun Adeyemi, to honour previous invitations extended by the committee, insisting that his testimony is crucial to uncovering how the organisation operated and secured government recognition.
The committee maintained that Adeyemi must appear before lawmakers to explain the activities of the agency, its source of authority and its involvement in public financial transactions currently under investigation.
Members of the panel also warned that no individual or institution would be allowed to frustrate the ongoing probe, stressing that the National Assembly has the constitutional authority to compel witnesses to appear before its investigative hearings.
The lawmakers directed the police authorities to ensure Adeyemi is brought before the committee within the stipulated period or provide reasons for any inability to comply with the order.
The investigation follows allegations that the agency found its way into official government records and was linked to financial transactions despite concerns that it was not lawfully established.
The House is also examining claims relating to the opening of bank accounts, budgetary allocations and other official dealings connected to the agency as part of efforts to determine whether due process was followed.
Several government officials and heads of relevant institutions have already appeared before the committee to provide explanations regarding the agency’s activities and its inclusion in official government documents.
Lawmakers said the outcome of the investigation would help establish accountability, identify any lapses within public institutions and recommend appropriate actions against anyone found to have violated the law.
The committee reaffirmed its commitment to concluding the investigation and ensuring that all individuals connected to the matter are held accountable in line with the law.
