Nollywood industry has been hit by another tragedy again as veteran actor, Zulu Adigwe has reportedly passed on Tuesday evening.
His death was announced in an Instagram post by Movie producer, Stanley Nwoko.
“I regret to announce the passing of a veteran actor, late Mr Zulu Adigwe.
“What caused his death is yet to be reviewed. Rest in peace good actor,” he added.
During his career, Adigwe was famous in the movies: “Living in Bondage”, “Breaking Free”, and many others.
Nollywood has lost seven of its actors in 2024.
They are Sisi Quadri, Mr. Ibu, Amaechi Muonagor, Andy Best, Jumoke Aderounmu and Junior Pope.
Adigwe’s death is coming barely two weeks after Pope and three other Nollywood actors died in a boat accident in Anam River.
The actors were said to be on their way to a location when the incident occurred.
Adigwe gained recognition primarily for portraying fatherly characters in Nollywood films.
His breakthrough role came as Mr. B in Ken Saro-Wiwa’s soap opera, Basi and Company (1987).
He also appeared in the highly successful 2019 movie “Living in Bondage: Breaking Free.”
According to his biography published by TRILLNG, Zulu Adigwe was born and raised in Enugu in the southeastern part of Nigeria. Most of his childhood was in Enugu but he had his basic education in Austria where he completed primary, secondary, and tertiary education.
He started acting in Europe in 1970 when he got into university, but in 1999, he returned to Nigeria and joined Nollywood.
Zulu Adigwe, also known as Mazi Udemba, graduated from a university in Austria where he read medicine and switched to the University of Ibadan and graduated with a degree in Theatre Arts.
