An Abeokuta court has granted bail to Abass Olalekan, popularly known as Ola Kamara, a Local Government Inspector with the National Youth Service Corps in Abeokuta South.

He was arraigned over allegations linked to the death of a female corps member following a reported abortion.

Olalekan is facing charges including conspiracy and attempt to procure abortion.

The case is connected to the death of a corps member identified as Victoria Ariyo, who reportedly died after complications from a terminated pregnancy.

The incident is said to have occurred in Abeokuta South Local Government Area, where the deceased was serving at the time.

During the court proceedings, the defence raised concerns over the strength of the evidence presented by the prosecution.

It was argued that there was no clear medical proof to support claims that drugs were used to carry out the abortion.

The court also observed that only one witness appeared despite several being listed in the case.

After considering the nature of the charges, the court ruled that the offences were not capital and granted the defendant bail.

The matter is still before the court, with further proceedings expected as investigations continue.
