The Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Federal Capital Territory Command, Abuja, has successfully rescued 13 persons who were abducted in the Egume axis of Anyigba, Kogi State.
The victims were reportedly kidnapped on April 26, 2026, while travelling from Calabar, Cross River State, to Abuja for an event.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Commander of the VGN Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Idris Girinya, disclosed that the rescue mission was carried out around 4 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
Girinya explained that the operation was spearheaded by Suleiman Abiodun of Kubwa, popularly called “Evil Spirit,” in collaboration with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria in Kogi State and officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
According to him, the victims had remained in captivity since their abduction before the security team successfully secured their freedom during the joint operation.
The rescued individuals were identified as Pastor Victor Edet Okon, Mercy Victor Okon, Bassey Bassey Ekpenyong, Sarah Bassey Ekpenyong, Evangelist Perfect Bomba, Christian George, Mary God’s Will Asuquo, Mary Bassey Kanu, Rita Effiom, Maria Undie, Mary Joseph, Iboro Johnson, and Prosper Ebuara.
