A National Youth Service Corps official in Ogun State, Abass Olalekan, has been arrested by the police following the death of a female corps member in Abeokuta.
The corps member, identified as Victoria Ariyo, was serving in Abeokuta South Local Government Area before her death earlier this week.
She was said to have died after complications linked to a pregnancy termination and was later buried at Kobape Cemetery along the Kobape-Sagamu Road.
The incident has sparked concern, especially as it comes weeks after another corps member in the same area died under unclear circumstances.
Police sources confirmed that the NYSC official is currently in custody at the state command headquarters in Eleweran.
There are allegations that the official had a close relationship with the deceased, which may have led to the pregnancy involved in the incident.

Further claims from sources suggest that the official has been linked to similar situations in the past involving corps members.
It was also alleged that a medical practitioner connected to the case told investigators that the official had previously brought other corps members for related procedures.
Sources described the official as someone who often uses his position to intimidate corps members, particularly females. These claims have raised concerns about possible abuse of authority and whether such relationships were truly voluntary.
The police have confirmed that the matter is under investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department.
Authorities are expected to continue their probe as more details emerge surrounding the incident.
