The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has moved ahead with its planned national convention scheduled for today, despite earlier concerns over possible disruption linked to the venue arrangement, according to party figure Dino Melaye.
Melaye explained that there were initial doubts and internal tension within the party over the readiness of the location, which briefly raised fears that the exercise might be postponed.
He, however, stated that those issues have now been resolved and all preparations have been completed to ensure the gathering takes place as planned.
Party officials maintained that the convention remains an important step in strengthening the structure of the ADC and improving its coordination ahead of future political activities.
Melaye further stressed that efforts to destabilise or create uncertainty around the event did not succeed, adding that members remain committed to moving the party forward.
He noted that security and organisational measures have been reinforced to guarantee a smooth and orderly process throughout the convention.
Leaders within the party are expected to use the meeting to deliberate on internal leadership matters and broader strategies aimed at expanding the party’s influence nationwide.
The ADC has been working in recent times to rebuild and reposition itself within Nigeria’s competitive political space, with emphasis on unity and internal stability.
Supporters believe that successfully holding the convention will send a strong message of resilience and organisational strength to members and observers.
As the event gets underway, attention is focused on how the party will navigate its internal decisions and the direction it chooses going forward.
