Several passengers were injured on Monday after a train travelling along the Abuja–Kaduna railway line derailed during the journey. The incident caused panic among travellers as the train suddenly left the tracks.
Passengers on board said the derailment happened unexpectedly while the train was moving, causing a sudden jolt that threw some people off balance inside the coaches.
Some travellers reportedly sustained injuries, including cuts and bruises, as a result of the impact and confusion that followed the incident.
Passengers described the moment as frightening, with many struggling to regain balance as the train shook before coming to a stop.
After the derailment, passengers began moving out of the affected coaches while others tried to assist those who were injured.
Emergency response teams and railway officials later arrived at the scene to help manage the situation and assist passengers.
Those who sustained injuries were attended to while efforts were made to ensure the safety of everyone on board.
Authorities also began preliminary checks on the train and the rail line to determine what may have caused the derailment.
The Abuja–Kaduna rail corridor remains one of the busiest railway routes in the country, carrying a large number of passengers daily.
Officials are expected to conduct a full investigation to determine the cause of the incident and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
