Golf legend Tiger Woods has been released on bail after he was arrested following a car crash in Florida.
The incident occurred when the golfer’s vehicle overturned while attempting to overtake another vehicle on a residential road. He was taken into custody shortly after the crash and later charged with driving under the influence.
Authorities said Woods was not injured in the accident, and the other driver involved also escaped without harm. However, officers at the scene observed signs suggesting possible impairment.
Although a breathalyser test showed no presence of alcohol, investigators suspected that medication or another substance may have been involved. Woods reportedly declined to undergo a urine test.
The 15-time major champion was held in custody for about eight hours, in line with local regulations, before being granted bail.
Officials confirmed that he faces charges including driving under the influence, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test, though the offences are classified as misdemeanours.
Police also revealed that the crash happened at high speed, with Woods’ vehicle tipping onto its side and sliding before coming to a stop.
The latest development adds to a history of traffic-related incidents involving the golfer, including a previous arrest in 2017.
Despite the severity of the crash, authorities noted that the situation could have been worse, as no injuries were recorded.
