Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has been offered to Manchester United as he pushes for a return to the Premier League, just six months after leaving Leicester City for Turkish side Besiktas.
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that the 29-year-old midfielder has been presented to the Red Devils as a possible midfield reinforcement for the second half of the season. Speaking on his YouTube channel on Thursday, Romano said Ndidi is keen on a Premier League comeback and is open to the terms required to make the move happen.
“One player that is offered to Manchester United is Wilfred Ndidi,” Romano said. “The former Leicester City midfielder, now playing in Turkey, is being offered as an opportunity for this January transfer window. The player will be keen to return to the Premier League.”
Despite Ndidi’s willingness to return to England, Romano disclosed that Manchester United are yet to make a formal approach or submit an offer. “Manchester United are aware of this chance, but at the moment, they have not made any bid or offer. The player is ready in terms of the contract side, even to accept what it takes to go back to the Premier League,” he added.
Reliable journalist Ben Jacobs also told fan outlet The United Stand that Besiktas are considering a sale, with a loan move featuring an option or a conditional obligation to buy potentially on the table. The Turkish club is believed to be valuing Ndidi at around €12m to €15m.
Ndidi joined Besiktas in the summer on a deal running until 2027, following Leicester City’s relegation from the Premier League in 2025. While he has settled well in Istanbul and has even captained the side recently, his desire for a return to England’s top flight is widely reported.
The Nigeria international first arrived at Leicester in January 2017 from Belgian side Genk for £17m, tasked with filling the void left by N’Golo Kanté. Over more than eight seasons at the King Power Stadium, he became a fan favourite, winning the FA Cup, Community Shield and EFL Championship, while establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s most reliable defensive midfielders.
After a strong showing at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where he captained Nigeria to a bronze medal finish and earned rave reviews, Ndidi’s profile has risen again. His leadership, tackling ability and experience in top-flight football have put him back on the radar of major European clubs.
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick is understood to be seeking midfield reinforcements at Old Trafford, and Ndidi’s name is now firmly in the mix. The midfielder has made 14 league appearances for Besiktas this season, scoring once and playing a key role for the Black and Whites.
With less than two weeks remaining in the winter transfer window, Ndidi will be hoping that interest from Manchester United translates into concrete negotiations, as he looks to secure a move back to the Premier League and test himself once more at the highest level.
