Suspected Explosive Blast Causes Chaos At Popular Lagos Market

Traders and residents were thrown into panic after a suspected explosive device detonated inside a busy market in Lagos, causing confusion and forcing people to flee the area for safety.

The incident happened at the popular Shoe Materials Market in Mushin, one of Lagos’ major commercial centres known for its heavy daily business activities and large movement of traders and customers.

Eyewitnesses said the explosion occurred suddenly, sending shockwaves across nearby shops as people abandoned their businesses and ran in different directions amid fears of another possible blast.

Preliminary reports indicated that the explosion may have come from a suspicious device believed to have been hidden beneath a parked vehicle before it unexpectedly went off.

Security operatives quickly moved into the area shortly after the incident, sealing off the market while bomb disposal experts began checking the environment for possible additional threats.

Authorities later confirmed that one person sustained injuries during the explosion and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police investigators reportedly recovered fragments believed to be connected to the device and have begun forensic examination to determine what exactly caused the blast.

The Lagos State Police Command has assured residents that the situation is under control and that there is currently no indication of a wider security threat in the area.

Officials also urged members of the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information while investigations continue.
