President Bola Tinubu has congratulated players of Nigerian descent following the Seattle Seahawks’ 29–13 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60 at Levi’s Stadium, California.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the players for bringing pride and honour to their country of descent.
He singled out Jalen Milroe, Seahawks quarterback; Nick Emmanwori, defensive standout; Uchenna Nwosu, veteran linebacker; Boye Maye, linebacker; and Olu Oluwatimi, offensive lineman, for their key contributions to the team’s second Lombardi Trophy.
Tinubu noted that Emmanwori, Nwosu, and Maye proudly raised Nigeria’s flag after the victory, symbolising the honour they brought to the country.
The President also commended Michael Onwenu of the New England Patriots, describing him as one of the most dominant offensive linemen despite being on the losing side.
According to the statement, their achievements reflect the global reputation Nigerians enjoy for excellence and talent.
Tinubu said the players’ success underscores the continued impact of Nigerians at the highest levels of international sports.
He wished all the players further success and more victories in their careers.
