Staff of Chrisland Schools were treated to another exciting sporting outing as the fourth edition of the Henrietta Ovuede Table Tennis Trophy was successfully concluded.
Banjo Adekunle, a French language teacher, once again proved his dominance in the competition after overpowering Saheed Olatilewa 11–5, 11–9 in the final to claim the top prize.
The win secured Adekunle’s third straight title in the tournament. After finishing as runner-up in the maiden edition, he has remained unbeaten in all subsequent competitions.
Speaking after the match, Adekunle expressed gratitude for the victory, describing the tournament as a rewarding experience and saying he was pleased to maintain his winning streak.
This year’s event recorded notable growth with the inclusion of staff from the Lekki arm of Chrisland Schools, expanding participation beyond the Victoria Garden City campus where the tournament began.
Founder of the initiative, Henrietta Ovuede, said the competition was conceived as a way for teachers to unwind and strengthen bonds, adding that its steady growth has exceeded expectations.
She disclosed plans to further broaden the tournament in future editions, with the possibility of hosting it at a neutral venue and inviting other schools to participate.
Also reacting, Executive Head of Schools for Business Development and Communications, Dr Jide Onigbogi, applauded the development of the competition, noting that it has become a strong platform for promoting fitness, teamwork and unity among staff.
