Nigerian music star Davido has denied claims surrounding an alleged private conversation with a South African woman, insisting that the messages being circulated did not come from him and warning that legal action could follow.
The controversy started after a South African woman identified online as Lethabo shared screenshots of what she claimed were private Instagram messages from Davido. The alleged conversation quickly spread online and triggered fresh speculation about the singer’s private life.
Davido, however, rejected the screenshots and insisted they were fake. In his response, the Afrobeats star shared what he presented as an example of his actual Instagram message interface, asking the public to compare it with the images being circulated. He accused the woman of seeking attention and dismissed the claims as false.
The matter took another turn after screenshots also surfaced suggesting that legal action could be taken over the publication of the alleged messages. The dispute has now moved beyond the question of whether Davido sent the messages to a possible legal battle over the authenticity and circulation of the screenshots.
The development has divided social media users, with some accepting Davido’s explanation after he pointed out alleged differences in the messaging interface, while others continued to question the controversy.
For now, the central issue remains unresolved: were the messages genuine, manipulated or completely fabricated? Davido’s position is clear he denies sending them while the woman behind the viral screenshots maintains the claims that sparked the online storm.
