Trump Hails Tinubu’s Security Efforts, Applauds Protection of Christians

United States President Donald Trump has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his administration’s efforts to combat terrorism and improve the protection of Christian communities across Nigeria, describing the country’s recent security gains as encouraging.

In a letter addressed to the Nigerian leader, Trump acknowledged the steps being taken by the Tinubu administration to confront insurgency, banditry and other violent crimes that have threatened lives and property in different parts of the country.

The American President noted that Nigeria’s determination to confront extremist groups has attracted international attention, adding that the progress made in protecting vulnerable communities deserves recognition.

Trump also commended Tinubu for demonstrating commitment to safeguarding religious freedom, particularly through measures aimed at protecting Christian populations affected by terrorist attacks and communal violence.

He stressed that ensuring the safety of citizens regardless of their religious beliefs remains an important responsibility of every government and welcomed Nigeria’s continued efforts in that direction.

According to the correspondence, the United States remains committed to strengthening cooperation with Nigeria in tackling terrorism, violent extremism and transnational crimes that threaten peace and stability across West Africa.

Trump expressed confidence that closer collaboration between both countries would further improve intelligence sharing, security operations and other initiatives designed to weaken terrorist networks operating within the region.

The Presidency described the message as another indication of the growing diplomatic and security relationship between Nigeria and the United States under the current administrations of both countries.

Tinubu’s government has consistently maintained that security remains one of its top priorities, with ongoing military operations targeting terrorists, kidnappers and armed criminal groups across several states.

In recent months, security agencies have reported the rescue of numerous kidnapped victims, the recovery of weapons and the dismantling of several criminal camps as part of intensified nationwide operations.

The latest commendation from Trump comes as Nigeria continues to seek stronger international partnerships in its campaign against terrorism while working to improve the safety of communities affected by years of insecurity.
