Tensions have escalated within the Eletu-Odibo Chieftaincy Family of Lagos following claims of a new leadership over the historic stool.
In a statement issued this morning, the family rejected a February 12, 2026, publication by Mr. Ajibade Ismail Nosiru Ayeni, who allegedly declared himself the current Eletu-Odibo of Lagos and claimed authority over the family’s landed properties.
The family described Ayeni as an outsider with no entitlement to the stool, stressing that he is neither a blood member nor related to the Eletu-Odibo lineage.
The case is currently before the Lagos State High Court under Suit No. LD/13332GCMW/2025, with Honourable Justice Alakija presiding.
The public was cautioned to ignore Ayeni’s claims, with the family warning that acting on his publication would be at one’s own risk.
According to the notice, all legitimate inquiries concerning the family or its properties must be directed to the accredited representatives through their lawyers, A. R. Fatoki & Associates.
The statement concluded with a stern warning: “Public Beware,” signed by A.R. Fatoki Esq., on behalf of the law firm representing the Eletu-Odibo Chieftaincy Family.
Observers say this development could prolong the legal battle over the prestigious Lagos stool, with courtroom proceedings expected to continue for some time.
