Lagos Reports No Casualties in School Collapse, Orders Student Relocation

By Wellington Jopelo

The Lagos State Government has confirmed the partial collapse of a classroom block at Odokekere High School in Ikorodu, assuring the public that no student was injured in the incident. The announcement was made Friday by the Special Committee on Rehabilitation of Public Schools (SCRPS).

Officials explained that the collapsed block was already scheduled for demolition to make room for a larger, modern facility to meet the needs of the school’s growing population.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has directed that students be immediately relocated to nearby schools to ensure their education continues without interruption.

SCRPS said a team will carry out an on-site assessment to guide the construction of a new classroom block designed to safely accommodate all students. The committee stressed that the government is committed to providing secure and modern learning spaces across public schools in Lagos.
