The Awujale Kingmakers Council has cancelled a meet-and-greet that was earlier planned to take place at the Aafin Awujale. Instead, all nominees for the Awujale stool have been instructed to report to the Department of State Services (DSS) office in Ijebu-Ode by 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

The directive was issued in an official letter dated January 20, 2026, and sent to the leadership of the Fusengbuwa ruling house, including its chairman, Otunba Lateef Owoyemi, deputy chairman, Otunba Dokun Ajidagba, and vice chairman, Prof. Fassy Yusuf. The letter made it clear that attendance at the DSS office is mandatory for all nominees.

According to the council, the DSS office is located along NTA Road, beside the State Psychiatric Hospital, off Igbeba Road, Ijebu-Ode. Nominees were warned to be punctual and to comply fully with the instruction.

The communication explained that the change in plans led to the cancellation of the earlier engagement at the palace and expressed regret over any inconvenience caused. It also stressed the importance of strict adherence to the new arrangement.

The letter was signed by the Secretary of the Awujale Afobaje Council, Chief Ayotunde Ola Odulaja. The development comes amid ongoing traditional procedures connected to the selection of a new Awujale, although no further information was given on what would follow the DSS meeting.
